Opportunity to Bash the Competition - Don'tAugust 30, 2011

Normally, I avoid speaking in the negative. Negative doesn't sell, it doesn't work. Breaking this rule, because if there is one thing you never want to do it's bash the competition.

There will be situations that arise, where a potential client may bring up the competition in a negative light. It's important to take this opportunity to express your condolenses for their plight and start addressing the positives of your service and what you would do differently. This is an open door to sell your socks off! Don't miss this opportunity by harping on the negative.

You'll do this for a couple reasons, some of this may seem counter-intuitive:

1) It will keep your mind positive - if your allow your attitude to become negative = no sale
2) It's ugly. You never know when it will come back to bite you - bashing creates bashing
3) Someday, you may have an opportunity to work with the competition - don't burn that bridge
